No More Overdue Fines at WLPL

Books and other items checked out from the West Lafayette Public Library will be accepted back at the West Lafayette Library with no overdue fines charged beginning January 1, 2018.

Remaining the same:

  • All checked out items will be due on their return-due date – three weeks/one week as now.
  • Materials checked out can be renewed for additional checked-out time, a practice we will continue to encourage.
  • To encourage folks to return checked out materials in a timely manner so that other patrons can check them out as well, we will continue to enforce the practice of suspending a patron’s checkout privileges if checked-out materials are overdue by more than a month or so. Once the overdue materials are returned checkout privileges will be automatically turned back on.
  • All of these changes/continued practices work with the circulation parameters of the Evergreen Indiana library consortium – the West Lafayette Public Library continues as an active member.
