Preschool story times: Tuesday & Friday: 10:30 a.m.; Thursdays: 4:00 p.m.

Story times are for children ages 2 and older and their families or caregivers.

Lap Sit: Mondays: 10:30 & 11:15 a.m. This program is for babies, toddlers, and their parents or caregivers. Make new friends while listening to simple stories and learning finger plays and songs.

Lego Builders Club

Saturday, February 10th

NEW TIME: 2 – 3:30 p.m.

Walnut & Elm Rooms

Children in preschool through grade 6 will have the opportunity to build with the Library’s collection of Lego blocks. Children who are 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. No fee or registration. Come and build and make new friends! Structures will be on display for three weeks in cases near the Children’s Area and the elevator.

Reading to the Dogs!

Saturday, February 17th

2 – 3 p.m.

Walnut & Elm Rooms

Registration required by Friday, February 16.

Therapy dogs and their partners from Therapy Dogs International will be at the Library to listen to children read to them. Children may bring books from home or choose some at the Library. This program is for children ages 4 and older.

Please note: Visitors, other than the parents and siblings of children who are reading to the dogs, are welcome to greet the dogs and talk to therapy dog team members only at 3 p.m., so that the readers are not disturbed.

Dr. Seuss’s Birthday Celebration

Saturday, February 24th

10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (“Drop-in” for as long as you like.)

Walnut & Elm Rooms

Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday @ the Library. The event is for children of all ages who enjoy Dr. Seuss’s many stories. There will be a story corner, crafts, and a snack. Children who are 8 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Free. No registration.

Lecture Series

An interesting evening of intellectual entertainment and engagement at the West Lafayette Public Library (208 W. Columbia St.) Three Purdue graduate students will be presenting their research, taking questions, and meeting with the community.

This if a free event put on by the Friends of the West Lafayette Public Library.

Doors open at 6pm. Speakers start at 6:30pm. The topics for this evening are:

Meghana Rawat: What Happens When You Cannot Hire a Communication Expert? Story of a Grassroots Social Enterprise in India

Jennifer Ptacek: Purdue Peace Project in Liberia: Promoting Peace through Performing Arts

Clinton Brown: Weight Challenges? Blame your Family

Children’s Summer Reading Club: Build a Better World!
Wednesday, July 12:  Yoga for Kids & their families with certified yoga instructor Kim Fields. Bring a towel or a yoga mat.
Saturday, July 15: Butterflies, Bees, & Origami!  Make summer crafts & origami creations.
Wednesday, July 19 Dance Workshop:   Dancers from the Morton Center Dance Troupe will lead a workshop in which girls and boys will learn how to prepare their bodies to dance, learn some simple steps, and dance to the music of recent Disney movies.
Wednesday, July 26: Movie and a food craft. Time: 2 to 4 p.m. Check the posters in the children’s department to learn the title of the movie.
Saturday, July 29th: Reading to the Dogs! Time: 2 to 3 p.m. Place: Walnut & Elm Rooms Registration required by Friday, July 28th

Creative Writing Enthusiasts, first Wednesday of each month at 5pm.

Wabash Area Lifetime Learning Association Film Series

Analog to Digital Demonstration, Monthly on the third Saturday, 1:00pm – 4:30pm

 

Cat Fundraiser Extraordinaire!

Join us at the West Lafayette Public Library Elm Room on Sunday, March 26th from 2-3pm for the Cat Fundraiser Extraordinaire!

Please bring an item or two to help the shelter:

  • Canned cat food (pate)
  • Dry food-Purina cat/kitten chow
  • Cat litter
  • Towels/blankets
  • Paper towels

All donated supplies and money raised will be donated to Almost Home Humane Society.

Activities include:

  • A feline guest of honor
  • Door Prizes
  • Treats
  • Guest Speakers
  • Games/Crafts
