One of the core objectives of the Friends is charity. Our goal is to raise funds for the West Lafayette Public Library to acquire new materials, host engaging programming, and provide other opportunities at our wonderful community asset on Columbia St.
Each month, the target donation amount is $2500. On an average month, this means we help the library purchase:
Area | Approx. Amount | Approx. # of Items[1][2] |
Children’s Books | $300 | 25 |
Teen Books | $150 | 10 |
Adult Books | $1000 | 50 |
Periodicals | $100 | 20 (issues) |
Media (DVDs, books-on-cd, etc.) | $400 | 35 |
Electronic | $550 | 36 |
We have four main channels to raise funds for the West Lafayette Public Library:
Past Funding
Children’s Summer Reading 2018 | Over 950 people signed-up for the program, Reading Takes You Everywhere. The Friends purchased the tote bags given to each of the participants and includes our name and web site, fowlpl.org |
Material Purchases 2018 | When you open up a book and you see the Friends’ nameplate, you have discovered an item that has been funded by our organization. |
Teen’s Summer Reading Vinyl Art Project 2018 | The Friends supplied the old, discarded vinyl for Librarian Ashley Schoolman’s art project for the Teen Summer Reading Program, Libraries Rock!
